My Father Cigars is the García family's house, built around José "Pepín" García, a Cuban-born master cigar maker. In 2003 the family opened El Rey de los Habanos in Miami's Little Havana, rolling Don Pepín García cigars and making blends for other brands, including Tatuaje. In 2006 they expanded to Nicaragua.
In 2008, Pepín's son Jaime quietly created a blend as a tribute to his father and called it My Father. It became the name of the brand and of the larger factory the family opened in Estelí, Nicaragua, in 2009. Today the family grows much of its own tobacco on farms across Nicaragua, and the factory also makes cigars for partners such as Tatuaje and Ashton's La Aroma de Cuba.
Standouts include Le Bijou 1922, created to honor Pepín's father, who was born in 1922, and The Judge, a stronger box-pressed offshoot released in 2016. The house style follows Cuban tradition, often with two binders in one cigar, and leans toward rich, spicy, full-flavored Nicaraguan tobacco. These are cigars for when you are ready for more weight.
